Our topic for the Autumn term is Scotland! It is the first topic that we cover over the year.
Our first topic is term is Place value, keep checking back for updates on how we are doing! This term we have looked at numbers 20 and below to make sure the children have a good understanding of the smaller numbers to aid their understanding when the numbers get bigger. We have also looked at addition and subtraction and 2D and 3D shape. The children enjoy working in their 'yellow maths books' and find the work a good challenge for them. We are also well under way with the number bonds challenges and the children have made very good progress. We will continue to work on these over the course of the year.
We had done an awful lot of writing over the past term. We have written stories, poems, posters, instructions and lots more. In the new term the children will be progressing to writing larger pieces of writing more often.
We will be learning about famous artists in Scotland, general information about Scotland and lots of fun facts that the children will be able to share with you over the coming weeks. We have learnt about castles, food, music, dances, bagpipes, landscapes, map work...the list just keeps on going!
For the first half term, the children will be learning about Scottish dancing along with Birch class. We are very excited to showcase our moves. We have also been doing team games and basic skills. The children have very much enjoyed their sessions with Mr Law and ask every day if they will get to see him.
